I am married, with one daughter, and one
granddaughter, and live on Hope Street in Old Glossop.
I was born at Partingtons, Glossop in May 1941.
I went to St Lukes Junior School and the old Glossop Grammar School.
I served my time as a Marine Engineer with Shell Tankers (UK) Ltd
and attended Kingston Upon Hull Technical College where I obtained
an OND. and HNC. in engineering.
My Education continued throughout my career with Shell and I passed
my DTI First Class Certificate in Marine Engineering
( equivalent to a degree) at the Hull College.

I also attended fire fighting, safety,
first aid, and electronic courses at Amsterdam, Hull, South Shields,
and Portsmouth.
I have visited and worked in most world countries before I retired
from Shell after 30 years service.
I obtained International Council experience when I was elected to
the Merchant Navy and Airline Officers Association in 1971 where I
served a term of 4 years.
On returning home I worked as the Engineer at two local
textile firms before I set up my own business, 24 hour industrial
maintenance
I am now retired from full time work but have several part time jobs,
which include writing websites for firms and organisations.
I have my own website www.old-glossop.com
which is an ongoing site about Old Glossop.
I am very active with the Old Glossops Resident Association
and am continually trying to protect Old Glossop from the Council
Planners and Developers who wish to destroy its uniqueness, by building
out of character housing in the area.
I do not have any allegiance to any political party. Therefore, as
an individual, I can strive to help the people of Glossop regain control
of their council and make it work for their benefit and not for the
convenience of the council workforce or any party political dogma. |
