1903 Inaugural run of new tram service Old Glossop terminus outside the Queens Hotel
In 1837 when Queen Victoria ascended to the throne the pub became an alehouse known as the Queens Arms in her honor. Towards the end of the 19th century the Racecourse Company bought the Queens in 1883 to take advantage of the proposed Manchester Racecourse which was going to be built round Shire Hill.
The pub is now hiker friendly, and completely refurbished It serves good wholesome meals on a daily basis and booking is advisable Mine Hosts are Carol and Alan Osbourne.
