The Wheatsheaf is first mentioned as a pub in
1860 and was called the New Inn.
It survived being closed when it was referred to Compensation in 1907 by
an appeal made by Doctor Eastham

I am pleased to say that the Wheatsheaf has now opened again as a traditional pub.
The new landlord Bob, his good lady Irene , and his daughters Hannah and Jessica have been a breath of fresh air to the village.
Why not pay a visit and sample the locally produced and tasty traditional homecooked excellent food.

Mine Hosts were Jackie and Richard Madden, they have now left.
As well a serving a fine selection of ales the Wheatsheaf has added
to the diversity of the food available in the village by opening the
Greek Taverna on Thurs. to Sunday
